Your Meetings Don't Work

Impact is what every leader tells me they want more of. Not louder voices. Not longer meetings. More impact. The challenge is not a lack of intelligence or effort. The challenge is attention. Leaders are competing with overflowing inboxes constant notifications hybrid meetings and shrinking focus spans. Attention is the new currency. Impact is how you earn it.

I see leaders doing all the right things on paper. Clear agendas. Smart content. Strong credentials. Yet their message still does not land. Impact is not about how much you say. It is about how people experience you when you say it. Presence tone clarity and relevance determine whether people lean in or mentally check out.

The research is sobering. Microsoft found that the average human attention span has dropped to about eight seconds largely due to digital overload. When attention is fragmented leaders must be deliberate about how they show up or risk being background noise.

Impact is created before you ever speak. It shows up in how you enter the room how you open a conversation and how quickly you get to the point. People decide within moments whether you are worth listening to. That decision is emotional before it is logical. When your message is concise confident and human it earns attention. When it is scattered rushed or overly complex it loses momentum.

Stop talking to data points

AI adds another layer to this reality. AI can generate content faster than ever. Many leaders now walk into conversations armed with perfectly written talking points. What AI cannot deliver is impact. Impact is human. It comes from eye connection intentional pauses listening without distraction and adapting in the moment. As communication becomes more automated impact becomes more personal.
